Pests, Diseases & DisordersIs gummosis a diagnosis or a symptom on a mango tree?
Gummosis describes gum or sap oozing from plant tissue; it does not name one disease. On mango it can accompany wounds, insect activity, environmental stress, or infection. Establish exactly where the exudate begins and whether nearby bark is cracked, sunken, or dying. Record whether it followed pruning or appeared without a known injury. Management depends on that underlying cause, so buying a treatment simply labeled for gum problems can miss the important issue.
