Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersShould I scrape away mango bark to follow a gum-producing lesion?

Avoid enlarging a wound simply to see how far the gum extends. Photograph the affected bark, note changes in its outline, and obtain instructions before destructive sampling. Gummosis has several possible causes, and stripping bark can remove useful diagnostic tissue while creating additional injury. A diagnostician may need a particular tissue boundary rather than a cleaned-out cavity. Keep the original condition documented so later changes can be distinguished from damage caused during examination.
