Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhy can a disease percentage from a handful of mangoes be misleading?
A percentage can look precise while representing very few fruit or a deliberately selected group of damaged specimens. Keep the number examined and the selection method beside the result. Use suspect fruit for diagnosis, but use a representative sample when estimating how widely the problem affects the crop. One additional affected fruit can change a small sample's percentage substantially, so avoid treating that number as a dependable estimate for an entire tree or block.
