Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersCan insects damage mango growth without leaving chewed holes?

Sap-feeding insects injure plants differently from chewing insects. Mango leafhoppers can feed on flowers and young shoots, while mealybugs can weaken growth and leave honeydew. Inspect intact but declining tissue for insects and sticky deposits rather than using missing leaf pieces as the only evidence of feeding. Confirm the organism and assess fresh injury, because the absence of chewing does not exclude insects and their presence alone does not establish the cause of decline.
