Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersHow can mango planthoppers be distinguished from the smaller damaging mango leafhoppers?

Some planthoppers have larger, greenish, tent-shaped adults and wax-covered young stages, while important mango leafhoppers are smaller, brown, and wedge-shaped. Photograph individual insects from above and the side rather than recording every jumping insect as the same pest. Confirm local species before interpreting counts. Combining the groups can exaggerate a leafhopper outbreak and obscure whether the insects associated with actual damage are increasing.
