Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhy should mango leafhopper surveys include flightless nymphs?

Nymphs move on the plant but cannot fly, whereas adults can leave when disturbed and quickly resettle. Examine young tissue carefully before shaking branches or walking through them. Record stages separately so a decline in visible flying adults is not mistaken for the absence of a developing population. Repeated observations of comparable growth are more useful than an impression based only on insects flushed into the air.
