The beetle's reproduction is associated with feeding on mealybug egg masses. Some mealybugs, including longtailed mealybugs, produce live young rather than the egg sacs needed for that response. Have the pest identified and discuss the match with a biological-control specialist. A predator useful against one mealybug species should not automatically be purchased for every waxy colony.
