A treatment aimed at another insect can also kill predatory mites or other natural enemies that were suppressing spider mites. The resulting outbreak is a secondary pest problem, not evidence that mites transformed from the original pest. Compare live mite and predator observations with the treatment record. Avoid responding with an automatic repeat of the same disruptive treatment without diagnosing the change.
