Pests, Diseases & DisordersDoes a positive DNA test prove a mango pathogen is still alive after treatment?
Ordinary DNA detection can identify genetic material from organisms that are no longer viable. A positive result therefore does not automatically demonstrate surviving infectious material or treatment failure. Ask the diagnostic laboratory what the assay measures and whether additional viability testing is appropriate. Interpret the result with the treatment history and sample context rather than declaring either eradication or active infection from DNA alone.
