Pests, Diseases & DisordersHow is disease tolerance different from disease resistance in a mango trial?
Resistance limits infection or pathogen development, while tolerance concerns maintaining performance despite a given disease burden. A tree with acceptable yield can still carry substantial infection, so yield alone does not establish resistance. Measure disease and production separately when interpreting a mango trial, and check how its authors define the terms. Neither label establishes freedom from a regulated pathogen.
