Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhat does an endophytic lifestyle mean for a fungus isolated from mango?
An endophyte occupies internal plant tissues without producing visible disease at the time observed. This differs from material merely resting on the surface. Mango research has documented anthracnose-associated fungi in apparently healthy tissues, so symptom-free occupancy does not guarantee that an organism is permanently harmless. Ask how internal isolation and identification were established before interpreting an isolate as a beneficial organism or an active disease.
