No. Solarization depends on capturing solar heat in moist soil, and clear plastic generally transmits sunlight into the soil more effectively than opaque black material. Weed suppression by blocking light is a different process. Evaluate local conditions and the target organism before relying on solarization, and do not heat an occupied mango root zone as though it were an empty preparation bed.
