Place the instruments together temporarily before comparing readings from different parts of the greenhouse. Otherwise, an apparent cold corner might actually reflect disagreement between the instruments. After that comparison, return the monitoring thermometer to the plant position and record any consistent difference. Keep the thermostat's control role separate from the task of checking plant conditions. If readings remain inconsistent, resolve the measurement problem before relying on either display to judge protection.
