Climate, Cold & Container GrowingDoes adding ballast to a mango planter solve root confinement?
Ballast can change weight and stability, but it does not create additional space for roots. Material placed inside the container can actually occupy space otherwise available to the growing medium. Assess tipping risk and root confinement separately before choosing a remedy. A heavier planter may remain upright while the root system still needs attention, and the extra weight can make repotting or seasonal relocation harder. Choose support and root-space changes for their respective purposes.
