Inspect the support surface, the pot's position, and the root ball separately before adding ties or more substrate. Determine whether the entire container tilts, the root ball has shifted inside it, or only the stem leans. Correct the part that is actually unstable and keep the root collar visible. Filling around the trunk may conceal movement without stabilizing the base, while a trunk tie cannot correct an unsafe planter or rolling platform.
