Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhat is the difference between backing up mango records and backing up a selected genotype?
Duplicate records preserve identity and observations, but they cannot regrow a lost selection. A living backup preserves plant material only if its identity and condition are maintained. Plan both forms of backup and link them through stable identifiers. Seed from a selected sexual seedling does not reliably recreate that genotype, so a seed envelope cannot replace verified propagated material.
