Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhy should a promising mango selection be compared with a current commercial reference during later trials?
The reference connects experimental performance to an option growers or buyers already understand. Include it under comparable harvest and handling conditions rather than relying on memories of its best fruit. A selection may improve on its parents yet offer little practical advantage over available cultivars. Keep the intended market and management system attached to that comparison.
