Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhy can flooding change the interpretation of a mango rootstock nutrition screen?

Flooding alters the root environment and can interact with nutrient supply. Mango experiments in limestone soil found that nutrition responses differed with prior iron treatment and flooding conditions. Treat those factors as part of the test, not background details. A nutrient response under temporary saturation should not be converted into a recommendation to flood mango trees to correct deficiencies.
