Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhy should breeders measure mango pulp weight as well as pulp percentage?

Pulp percentage describes the share of the whole fruit available as flesh, while pulp weight describes the amount from an individual fruit. They answer different selection questions and need not rank material identically. Mango genetic studies examine fruit, stone, and flesh traits together. Keep both measures when the objective combines portion size, processing recovery, and manageable fruit dimensions.
