Record the relocation date and old and new positions, including changes in surrounding shade or exposure. Keep that event visible when comparing seasons. An apparent temperature or rainfall trend may reflect a measurement change as well as weather. Check the instrument after installation and avoid treating the new series as automatically interchangeable with observations from the former location.
