If every defect category is added as though it describes a different fruit, total rejects can exceed the actual rejected quantity. Use an agreed counting method and preserve secondary defects where useful. Reconcile unique rejected fruit or weight separately from defect observations. This keeps the report useful for diagnosing multiple problems without overstating the physical loss.
