Mulch changes the soil's moisture environment, so the same nominal irrigation reduction may expose mulched and bare soil to different conditions. Mango experiments test these factors together. Keep the mulch treatment and observed root-zone moisture explicit when interpreting the result. A successful combined treatment does not establish the separate contribution of either component without an appropriate comparison.
