Performance on the fruit used to fit a model can overstate its ability to handle new material. Independent harvests expose changes in cultivar, origin, and growing conditions that the calibration may not represent. Mango studies test these transfers explicitly. Retain reference measurements from relevant new lots before relying on an apparent model improvement in commercial release decisions.
