Choose fertilizer from the tree's needs, the soil, and its stage of growth, not from a promise that one product makes every mango fruit. Young growing trees and mature bearing trees do not necessarily need the same balance of nutrients. Excess nitrogen can encourage foliage at the expense of a manageable flowering canopy, and trace elements should not be added blindly. Read the label, account for fertilizer already reaching the roots from nearby lawn or garden beds, and use testing to guide corrections.
