Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhy is my mango fruit splitting?

Mango fruit can split when rapid fruit growth coincides with substantial changes in soil moisture and humidity. Inspect the crack and surrounding tissue because disease lesions or other skin damage can also cause cracking that needs a different diagnosis. Aim for reasonably steady root-zone moisture during fruit development rather than alternating severe drying with heavy watering. Keep records of rain and irrigation around the event, and do not assume that every split proves a calcium shortage or needs a spray.
