Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Flavor, Quality & StorageWhy does a mango taste sour or bland?

A sour or bland mango may be naturally tart, not yet ripe, harvested too immature to develop good eating quality, or affected by poor storage. Variety differences also matter, so compare sound fruit at a suitable ripeness before deciding the tree is poor. Let a mature unripe whole mango finish ripening at room temperature; that cannot restore development missing at harvest. If the fruit has an abnormal fermented smell, mold, or deteriorating flesh, treat that as a spoilage warning rather than a flavor problem to mask.
